Making copies. Making phone calls. Figuring out why people also in the CIA want to kill you. Movies! I couldn’t get enough of these three films this year. Probably watched each at least 3x each. With leads like Dustin Hoffman, Paul Newman, and Tom Cruise, it was hard not to, hubba hubba.
Bonus: The Ring, Arrival
The best Star Wars TV Show, based on a character from the best Star Wars Movie. Andor follows Cassian Andor as he is thrust into the early Rebellion. It includes a group of rag-tag weirdos, all very well cast. They infiltrate and sabotage against the forming/growing Empire. If only there was a modern day need/allegory for what happens in the show. The prison episode is especially good. Watch on Disney+.
Inexplicably the show that confronts what it means to be a human (especially in the Unite States/New York City) better than maybe any show ever. Please watch it on HBO Max/MAX.
The Brits: is there anything they can’t say that you have to rewind and turn up the volume to understand what the fuck they are saying? Taskmaster is a very fun comedian/game show, with 15+ series at this point, a lot of them free on Youtube (access to them in Plex with no commercials and the swears, is more ideal however). https://www.youtube.com/taskmaster
The ultimate Copaganda. Cop who kills a lot of people: good. The “real bad cops” are caught by the good cop who is still killing a lot of people. Etc. You get it. You gotta love the “L.A. is a character in the show” aspect though. My one complaint: Bosch doesn’t fuck enough. On Amazon Prime.

I have done this puzzle about 6 times this year. I can do in roughly 4 hours (while watching TV shows and drinking). It’s a rare puzzle where I do not do the edge first because at this point I know where almost any piece I see (other than some of those white/tan ones) more or less exactly they go.
This has become the game of choice for my family when it’s game time. With it’s few and simple rules, it makes it easy for my ADHD/bad memory/aging family.

About: This is one of my favorite 80s B-movies that actually came out in the 70s. Bad acting, campy (pun!), and fun (rhyme!). Don’t be deceived by the remake with the same name. Although, if you get the chance to watch the post 2000 remakes, including 3D (2010) and 3DD (2012), watch those. They are silly fun, and boob-filled.
About: An iconic ’99 shark movie. Stacked cast. Fun and funny. A LL Cool J rap to start the credits. Sharks!! This movie has it all. It’s one of those movies where every time I’m at a place that has cable and this is playing on like VH1 or TNT or FXM, you know I’m watching it.
About: Prime currently has all(?), or at least most of the Saw movies. If you like little clown guys riding around on a tricycle who also kills and maims people. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen more than Saw I and Saw II. These are the type of horror I actually get scared during. There are freaks out there that are smart and have lots of money and if they wanted they could kidnap and torture me. No thanks!

This franchise is ~10 movies at this point and anytime I see one of them on a streaming site, I will watch it. Campy and fun with awesome practical effects. A must watch.
Did you know The Babadook was Australian? I didn’t learn The Babadook was Australian until a few weeks ago. Anyways, The Babadook is a great movie, with a great kid actor who is a little fella.
I saw half of this movie in a bar one night. It was good. Can’t go wrong with Stephen King (of Stephen King fame) and/or George A. Romero (of George A. Romero fame). Three separate stories makes up the film: Old Chief Wood’nhead, The Raft, and The Hitch-hiker.
About 10 years ago someone online told me this movie was really good and I should watch it. I tried and got 5 minutes in and then realized “i wasn’t in the mood” for the movie. I’ve watched the first 5 minutes every year since. This might be the year I watch the whole 1 hr and 56 minutes. Should I watch it? Have you watched it? You should watch it.
This is the future Dr. Fauci and China wanted, but thankfully they failed. A little bit 28 Days Later, a little bit Contagion, a little bit Children of Men, and a little bit British. How will you handle The (Final) Rage Virus?
Someone who I semi-respect for their media views, recently posted this poster on Instagram and said “it’s time” soooooo ya, I’m gonna be watching The Nun soon…for the first time.
Octavia Spencer is a real joy. And it’s a Blumhouse Production Joint??? I will be watching very soon. Will update then.
Why did I choose to “feature” so many of the movies I actually haven’t seen instead of the (all?) ones I have seen in the Bon(e)us section??? We will never know because one of these FREAKS from the above movies (or this one) will likely kill us before we can get to the bottom of it. I don’t know. Rob Zombie is a weird guy, right? Watch House of 1000 Corpses.
A classic. You guessed it: I haven’t seen it. This is actually a horror movie I’m semi-scared to watch, which is a big reason I haven’t seen. It’s too possible. You know what I mean? Maybe I’ll be a Big Strong Boy and watch this Horror Movie Watching Season.

9 HORROR MOVIES TO WATCH ON TUBI IN SPOOKY SEASON 2023
About: This was the movie I realized these two rascals lived in the same universe. I’m slow. And also not a nerd. It’s maybe one of my favorite “Blockbuster” movies from the last five or so years. Red v Blue? A Hollow Earth? An international conglomerate doing shady shit? I’m all in. A perfect movie to watch with pizza and soda with the fam, or work off a hangover on the couch on a Saturday morning.
About: More like Get In! An incredibly good thriller film about the horrors of white Boomer’s Neo-liberalism. It thrills so much that it’s a movie I’ll never be able to re-watch as a two time brief sleep-paralysis haver.
About: Smart people doing smart things with societal and institutionalized racism that still exists to some degree? Infuriating! But very motivating, hopeful, and at times very fun.
About: Get the gals together, eat some cheese, drink some wine, and get w*t as f**k. A really fun movie for all everyone (who is of age!).
About: An early nineties laugh riot that holds up surprising well! A family comedy full of heart and Robin Williams (R.I.P.). And Pierce Brosnan. Hubba Hubba.

About: Part of a larger project, Project Kamp is a piece of land in Portugal some rapscallions purchased and have been living on for the last couple of years. It’s an experiment more than anything, and a framework for the idea of living sustainably, and minimally. They build structures and homes, walk through how they feed up to two dozen people, and do some light farming. The first time I saw Gone Girl (2014) I was watching it in a bar, surrounded by people I hate (including myself, obviously) half reading the closed captions. I started roughly 30 minutes in (she was freshly missing) and stopped watching with roughly 30 minutes left (she was at her old boyfriend’s giant second home, but before murdering him).
